Metro Dumaguete College (MDC) adopts an online and open admission policy for both Senior High School and collegiate programs. All applicants are accepted regardless of race, age, gender, marital status, or abilities.

Grade 10 completers and ALS passers promoted to SHS are accepted, provided they are of good moral standing, as evidenced by a Certificate of Good Moral Character (CGMC) and a signed original report card from their previous school, confirming the completion of Grade 10 or ALS requirements.

Graduates from Senior High School and ALS passers promoted to college are accepted. However, ALS passers are required to enroll in a bridging program consisting of at least four (4) subjects, or the equivalent of twelve (12) units, from the Senior High School curriculum. All applicants must also comply with the pre-admission requirements, including the physical and psychological tests administered by the Office of Guidance and Testing, as well as the general entrance requirements set by the Admissions Office.

Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED)

1. The applicant must be a Senior High School graduate.
2. The applicant must take the diagnostic examination administered by the Office of Guidance and Testing.
3. The applicant must present a teaching demonstration to the College Dean.
4. For transferees, a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 85% or 2.0 is required.

Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCRIM)

1. The applicant must be a Senior High School graduate.
2. The applicant must pass the medical examination, which includes CBC, Chest X-ray, Drug Test, ECG, and Potassium test administered by the School Physician.
3. The applicant must pass the psychological tests, including mental ability assessment, depression screening/monitoring, suicide ideation assessment, and personality evaluation, administered by the School Psychometrician.
4. Transferees applying for admission to the BS in Criminology program must have 1st- or 2nd-year standing only, as the program is newly established.

Graduates from Senior High School, high school graduates under the old basic education curriculum (2017 & below), ALS passers promoted to college, and undergraduate college students are accepted. The applicant shall submit complete general entrance requirements set by the Admissions Office and shall take a scheduled diagnostic test administered by the Office of Diploma Program Unit. The test result shall only be used if the number of scholarship slots cannot suffice the number of scholarship applicants.
